Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C). Lightly grease an 8-inch round cake pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir in sugar.
  3. Add butter, eggs, milk, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix on low speed until combined, then briefly increase to medium-high for a smooth batter.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared pan, leveling the top. Cover tightly with aluminum foil, poking a few holes to let steam escape.
  5. Place the pan in the air fryer basket and bake (covered) for 45 minutes.
  6. Remove foil carefully. Bake for another 5–10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Invert onto a wire rack and let it cool completely before frosting or serving.
